waiting for the river

He who postpones the hour of living is like the rustic who waits for the river to run out before he crosses.

Horace

I’ve waited until that perfect moment to say something that needed to be said.
I’ve waited until the conditions are just right before I’ve allowed myself to be happy.
I’ve tossed out “if” and “when” as if there were no today.

After a few tentative steps, I’ve been stepping a little further into the current, and I’m finding it’s okay. The current of life is like electrical current: sure it might carry the risk of shock, yet it’s the juice that keeps everything flowing.

Recently, I’ve even been diving in more often. I’ve felt the water carry me, hold me, & support me.

How is it for you? Is there something you haven’t done or allowed yourself to do because you’re waiting for something?
